The best free IT courses with certificates for Filipinos come from well-known providers: Cisco Networking Academy, Microsoft Learn, freeCodeCamp, Kaggle Learn, AWS Skill Builder, TESDA's online program, and the Google IT Support certificate through Coursera financial aid. Pick courses based on the job you want, not the number of certificates you can collect. Certificate terms change often, so always check the current rules on the official site before you start.

I put this list together because the same question shows up in every Facebook group: "Ano pong free course na may certificate?" The honest answer is that there are a lot, but most people take random ones and end up with ten certificates and no clear direction. Below, the courses are grouped by role so you can pick one lane.

Before you pick: how much do free certificates matter?

A free certificate shows initiative and helps your resume pass a quick keyword scan. It rarely gets you hired by itself. What recruiters and interviewers care about is whether you can actually do the work, which means projects, labs, and being able to explain what you learned.

A good rule: one structured course per skill, then a project that uses it. Three certificates plus three small projects beat fifteen certificates every time.

Also, "free" can mean different things:

  • Free course, free certificate: what most people want.
  • Free course, paid certificate: you can learn everything, but the certificate costs money.
  • Free through financial aid: you apply and, if approved, get the full course and certificate.
  • Free learning, paid exam: common with industry certifications.

I'll flag which type each one usually is, but these terms do change. Check current terms on each provider's site.

Free IT courses with certificates in the Philippines, grouped by role

Each group below lists the resources I'd actually point a friend to. Start with the group that matches the job you want.

IT support and helpdesk

  • Google IT Support Professional Certificate (Coursera): structured beginner program covering troubleshooting, networking, operating systems, system administration and security. Coursera offers financial aid, so you can apply per course. See our honest review of whether the Google IT Support certificate is worth it.
  • Microsoft Learn: free modules and learning paths on Windows, Microsoft 365 and identity basics. You earn free badges and trophies on your profile. Official Microsoft certification exams are separate and paid.
  • TESDA Online Program (TOP): free online courses from TESDA, including computer and ICT-related topics. Check the TESDA site for what's currently offered and how completion is recognized.

If helpdesk is your target, pair these with our step-by-step guide to an entry level IT support job.

Networking and cybersecurity

  • Cisco Networking Academy (NetAcad): free self-paced courses like networking basics, introduction to cybersecurity and similar entry level topics. Completing them typically earns a digital badge. Their longer instructor-led CCNA courses are usually offered through partner schools.
  • Microsoft Learn security fundamentals paths: free modules covering security, compliance and identity concepts.
  • Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate (Coursera): another Google program on Coursera, with financial aid available the same way as the IT Support one.

Web development

  • freeCodeCamp: completely free curriculum covering responsive web design, JavaScript, front-end libraries, back-end APIs and more, with free certifications earned by completing required projects. One of the best-value resources anywhere.
  • The Odin Project: a free, project-heavy full-stack curriculum (JavaScript or Ruby on Rails paths). It doesn't give certificates, but you finish with real projects, which matter more. Strongly recommended.
  • CS50 by Harvard: the famous intro to computer science course, available free online. Harvard has offered a free CS50 certificate through its own CS50 site, while the edX verified certificate is paid. Check current terms.

Whatever you take, finish with three solid projects. Our guide to a junior web developer portfolio explains which three.

Data analysis

  • Google Sheets: not a course, but free, and you can learn most spreadsheet skills on it using Google's own help center tutorials.
  • SQLBolt: free interactive SQL lessons in your browser. No certificate, but it's one of the fastest ways to learn SQL basics.
  • Khan Academy, Intro to SQL: free, beginner-friendly, with exercises.
  • Kaggle Learn: free short courses on Python, pandas, data visualization, SQL and intro machine learning. You can earn free certificates of completion.
  • Microsoft Learn Power BI paths: free modules on building reports and dashboards in Power BI.

For the order to learn these, see data analyst for beginners in the Philippines.

QA and software testing

  • ISTQB Foundation Level syllabus: free to download from the official ISTQB website. It's not a course, but it's the standard reference for testing vocabulary. The certification exam itself is paid.
  • Atlassian's free Jira plan and learning resources: create a free account and practice logging bugs and managing a board. Atlassian also has free learning content on its own site.
  • freeCodeCamp: useful for picking up the HTML and JavaScript basics that make you a better tester.

Cloud

  • AWS Skill Builder: free digital courses, including AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials, which prepares you for the entry level AWS certification. The certification exam is paid.
  • Microsoft Learn Azure Fundamentals path: free modules covering cloud concepts and Azure services. Microsoft sometimes runs events with exam discounts or vouchers, so watch their official pages.
  • Google Cloud Skills Boost: Google's learning platform with some free labs and courses. Terms vary, so check what's free when you sign up.

Cloud roles usually expect some support, networking or Linux background first, so don't make this your very first step unless you already have IT experience.

How to avoid fake "free certificate" offers

Some Facebook pages promise "free government-recognized IT certificate, slots limited" and then ask for a fee, your GCash number or personal documents. Be careful. A legit free course lives on the provider's official domain (netacad.com, learn.microsoft.com, freecodecamp.org, coursera.org, tesda.gov.ph and so on). If someone asks you to pay a middleman to "process" a free certificate, walk away.

A simple way to choose

  1. Pick one target role from the sections above.
  2. Choose one structured course for that role and finish it.
  3. Build one small project or lab using what you learned.
  4. Add both to your resume and LinkedIn.
  5. Only then move to the next course.

If you're not sure which role fits you yet, the free IT Job Starter Kit has a short self-assessment and a study plan template to help you decide.

What free courses won't do for you

Free courses teach the material well. What they don't do is read your work. Nobody tells you that your bug report is missing a step, that your resume still reads like a BPO job description, or that your answer to "why IT?" runs three minutes too long. Most people only find out from silence after fifty applications.

You can fix that on your own with patience: post your work in free communities, ask friends who work in IT, record yourself answering interview questions. If you'd rather have feedback built in, that's the part our courses focus on. In the Career Shifter Track, your resume, your portfolio project and two mock interviews each get written feedback from a coach, and the weekly live calls are recorded for people on shift. The free courses above still do the teaching. You can see how the two fit together in the free preview lessons.
